Achavandra stables is a family run riding centre located in the beautiful and scenic area of Dornoch in the Scottish Highlands.
We offer a variety of different horse experiences to suit all abilities and ages.
We have a wide selection of different trail rides to choose from including woodland riding, hill rides, and award winning beaches, with fantastic views to be seen around every corner. We also offer holidays where clients can ride daily and stay in our bed and breakfast “woodlands” situated in the beautiful and historic town of Dornoch.

A beautiful little trek, on our super safe ponies. The ride is through scenic fields with the opportunity to see rabbits and birds of prey, such as red kites and buzzards.
Through scenic fields including the ancient and atmospheric Morrich forest with its 200 year old Scotch Pines with a good chance to spy the odd Red Deer, and then along the beach.
Same as above through fields, forest, then onto and over the sandy dunes and along the beach where beach seals haul up regularly.
2hr, 1/2 Day or Full Day
Horse Riding in the picturesque woods and heather covered landscape towards the remote lochs where brown trout, rainbow trout and Arctic char are often seen jumping. See if you can spot the Roe deer, Red deer or Sika deer which are often spotted in the woods or grazing on the hills.
Ride through Skelbo Woods towards Loch Fleet. Here all year round you get a chance to see the rare waders and waterfowl feeding and roosting along with the seals basking on the sandbanks. Ospreys are often spotted gliding and fishing over the estuary and on a very lucky day the possibility of spotting the otters.
